Subassembly Studio / Intellassembly
|
|
(Patent Pending)
|
| |
|
How many times have you found that you needed a subassembly that wasn't included in the stock AutoCAD Civil 3D subassembly library?
Until now, the only available solutions involved convoluted workarounds using generic link subassemblies or hiring a developer to
create a custom subassembly. Custom development can be expensive and time consuming, and in the meantime production is stalled.
|
| |
|
Well, the rules of the game have changed. With Subassembly Studio, you can now quickly and easily create
an unlimited variety of custom parametric subassemblies without any programming whatsoever! In mere minutes, you can now
replicate what might have taken a developer days to create (often in less time than it would take you to browse the AutoCAD
Civil 3D discussion forum for a solution, if one even exists). Because you can create and modify your custom subassemblies
by yourself, you are not only able to remain fully productive, but you will likely find that you can complete your designs
faster than previously possible while at the same time producing a higher quality product because your subassemblies will
perform precisely as you require.
|
| |
|
Subassembly Studio is currently being used worldwide to create a wide variety of custom subassemblies such as:
|
- Road design components
- Complex earthwork components
- Production quality heavy and light rail components
- Earth dams
- Dikes
- Pipe/utility trenches and duct banks
- Drainage ditches
- Airport design
- Custom conditional and generic link subassemblies
- Custom multiple branch conditional subassemblies
- Earth retention structures
- Bridges and other structures
|
|
|
|
Other applications for Subassembly Studio include mining, site design, utility placement and landfill design just to name a few.
The possibilities are virtually unlimited.

Features
|
- Graphically construct catalogs of custom parametric subassemblies for use in AutoCAD Civil 3D using simple, intuitive COGO commands in a managed environment that feels both familiar and natural for AutoCAD Civil 3D users
- Subassemblies take only minutes to create using a process that is similar to using AutoCAD Civil 3D generic link subassemblies
- Exported subassemblies are self-licensing - distribute to as many machines as you need with no additional license fees
- Fully customize the input, output, and target parameters for the subassembly
- Leverage advanced features to enable your subassemblies to automatically choose logical targets (offset, surface, pipe networks, etc)
- Perform complex calculations inside your subassemblies
- Interpolate values from tables
- Create arcs, fillets, parabolas, and custom parametric curves
- Utilize marked points in Layout Mode *
- Automatically retrieve output parameter values from other subassemblies *
- Distances are unit-sensitive, allowing you to mix measurement systems (e.g. specify a distance in inches within a metric subassembly)
- Use the subassemblies you create as components in more complex custom subassemblies
- Use conditional logic in the custom subassemblies to add intelligence
- Create custom 'Conditional' subassemblies
- Easily maintain and modify your custom subassembly catalogs
- Automatically generates all files necessary to use the subassemblies you create with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Runs as a standalone application, allowing CAD managers to create and maintain custom subassembly catalogs without having to run AutoCAD Civil 3D on their machines
- Simple automated or manual deployment of exported subassembly catalogs in both ZIP and PKT formats
- Compatible with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009 - 2012 (2012 currently in beta) - easily reuse subassemblies on multiple versions of AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Available in several editions to meet your specific needs, including 'Developer' Editions
- Optional subscription service includes access technical support, new releases, and other benefits

Intellassembly
|
| |
|
In the 2011 release of Subassembly Studio, we have introduced our latest product called 'Intellassembly' in the new
Ultimate Edition. Intellassembly allows you to construct artificially intelligent subassemblies that will automatically
decide (using pre-defined logic that you customize) which subassemblies to place in your cross section at each station
as your corridor model is being built. It uses a collection of 2D and 3D 'target' linework such as polylines, lines, feature
lines, etc that is assigned custom extended attribution to decide how to construct the corridor model. This linework is
also used to dynamically "Regionate" your corridor, which is a process by which critical stations are automatically calculated from
the target linework and are dynamically inserted into the corridor model.
|
|
|
|
This can potentially reduce weeks of work to mere hours. Take for example a situation where you have a section of road with 50
driveways. This can easily amount to several hundred regions with at least 4 or 5 assemblies in a traditionally built corridor in Civil 3D. With
Intellassembly, the very same road model may be constructed as a SIMPLE CORRIDOR using only ONE REGION and ONE ASSEMBLY. Instead
of spending weeks setting up hundreds of regions, you can simply draw the critical plan view components in 2D, associate them with
the corridor and add any additional custom attribution you desire, and let Intellassembly build the corridor dynamically using a single
assembly.
|
| |
|
In a recent pilot project, one of our customers (Florida Department of Transportation) was able to leverage Intellassembly to reproduce a corridor model in ONE HOUR
that had previously taken approximately one and a half weeks to model using conventional design methods. They were also able
to reduce the approximately 25 separate regions in the conventional model to ONE REGION in the Intellassembly based model.
